Pine

Pine is the budget-friendly softwood for first projects and large surfaces: light, widely available and fast to machine. Knots add rustic character to organic patterns.

Why choose it

CNC machining (Ø6 mm bit, indicative)

Indicative speeds: always validate on an offcut.

Finishing and mounting

Pine blotches. It absorbs stain unevenly because early and late wood drink at different rates, so a conditioner before staining is not optional — without it a uniform colour is simply not achievable.

Knots bleed resin through paint, sometimes years later. Seal every knot with shellac-based knotting solution before priming, or accept amber stains appearing on a white wall.

It dents. Pine is soft enough that a knock during installation leaves a permanent mark, so handle finished slats carefully and fit them last, after the messy work in the room is done.
