Oak

Oak is the premium choice for parametric slat walls: dense, dimensionally stable and with a pronounced grain that catches light beautifully on wave reliefs. Ideal for living rooms, reception desks and high-end acoustic panels.

Why choose it

CNC machining (Ø6 mm bit, indicative)

Indicative speeds: always validate on an offcut.

Finishing and mounting

Oak is open-grained: a grain filler before lacquer is what separates a furniture-grade finish from a pitted one. Hardwax oil is the forgiving alternative — it soaks in, needs no spray booth, and a scratched slat can be spot-repaired years later.

Tannins in oak react with iron: use stainless or brass fixings, and wipe up any water on bare wood immediately, or you will get black spots that no sanding removes.

Solid oak moves with humidity. Fix each slat at one point and let the rest float, or leave 2 mm of clearance at the ends — a wall screwed rigidly along its full length will cup or split through its first heating season.
